Promoting your website is a key element in driving the marketing “engine” for Today’s Home Inspector. However, your promotions should also include an analytical device. A way to track your progress – or a lack of progress.

If you’re just throwing content on your site or out into the social internet without measuring it you’re simply walking in the dark. You could be wasting your time trouncing the same path – over and over.

One of the most powerful ways to track your progress is with a FREE Google Analytics account.

Google Analytics can track visitors from all referrers, including search engines and social networks, direct visits and referring sites. It also tracks display advertising, pay-per-click networks, email marketing and digital collateral such as links within PDF documents. – Wikipedia

Here’s an example of how you can track detailed statistics about your website’s traffic/traffic sources and measure the resulting conversions. Of course – this same method (and mind set) will work for any site – whether you’re promoting shoes, cars or widgets!
